chapter

My female owner says that Chapter 1 of Brisbane09 is concluding tonight and Chapter 2 starts tomorrow.

I never knew she was compartmentalising her life into chapters! Anyway, here’s why there is a need for another chapter.

The main reason is because her second externship starts tomorrow and with its commencement, kickstarts other commitments for the rest of the year (before she returns home. Yay!). She is looking forward to this placement as she would be working with school children. The placement site has good reviews and she believes that it would be more fulfilling and enriching than erm… the previous one (well.. what can be worse than that, right?). In addition, she looks forward to understanding more about the aussie culture through working with young people.

Okay, so one thing leads to another. After her externship, her RA work starts too. She has agreed to meet with her supervisor on a weekly basis. First meeting takes place next Tuesday.

One week after that, school starts. That means two coursework and one tutor load.

So a typical week would look like this. Monday: coursework. Tuesday: coursework + research. Wednesday: tutoring + preparation for placement. Thursday & Friday: placement. Sat? Sun?

On her personal life side, she hopes to continue with the following:

  • Losing weight (must admire her for her never-say-die spirit). Believe me, she has a plan.
  • Practicing guitar (she decided that maybe flute has to be put on hold, coz she has limited musical genes and neurons)
  • Investing time and energy into Brisbane friends (don’t forget people in Singapore!)

In terms of her spiritual walk with God, she has MOVED ON. No longer moving on, but MOVED ON. The emotional and spiritual baggage that she had accumulated over the years no longer has a hold on her. Her mind is now clearer about who God is, about the promises and blessings that she is entitled to, about the faithfulness and steadfastness of God, about how she wants to live her life from now on, about so many things that my tiny paws cannot keep up typing. Her faith has been strengthened through the different experiences she had over the months.

5 months in Brisbane and my female owner has accomplished many things in various domains – academically, spiritually, socially, psychologically, emotionally, musically. Maybe the only thing is that her physical health is not so good now. She also noticed that she is not as mentally alert as before (by the way, she finally decided that she should start taking salmon oil!). Her financial health remains dodgy but it doesn’t worry her atm.

Overall, Chapter 1 closes on a high note. She grew more than she ever imagined or dared to think of when she cried her way into the plane in Feb this year. And what's more exciting for my female owner is that God told her to believe Him for more.
