wine

My female owner had such a bad day that she decided to cook seafood aglio olio. She even took the trouble to get a bottle of white wine to add to in the dish. Despite her most vivid imagination, it tasted nothing like the yummy one her friend cooked for her a few years ago when she went over to Melbourne. None the least, my female owner took delight in her meal.

At night, she responded to an impromptu jio by her Therapist Fren to go for a walk around the neighbourhood (they live in the same street now). Apparently, she had a tough day grappling with work politics. My female owner brought along her bottle of wine (2/3 left) and they ended up drinking at a nearby park. Logically, they knew that drinking wasn’t going to help them with their issues and furthermore, they were non-drinkers. They didn’t even drink enough to get high. However, it seemed to be their way of distracting themselves momentarily until they returned to their work afterwards.
She still has 1/3 of the bottle left.. and no, she hasn't reach the stage where she would drink by herself. Getting there it seems.

again

My female owner did it again. She got drunk/ high/ tipsy hanging out with her Impromptu Frens. As usual, she made a spectacle of herself with her usual symptoms (as what Potahto puts it) – getting aggressive if her drink was taken away from her, leaning over at people for support, knocking out for a period of time and crying when conscious.

My female owner, in spite of her delirium last night, was upset during the time she was not herself. For the first time in a long time, all her Impromptu Frens (including a new addition who responses to impromptu jios, but level of commitment not tested out) turned up for an event and she didn’t maximise the precious limited time available.

Instead, she walked straight into temptation by devouring beer and red wine at the same time and playing number guessing games. And that meant that she couldn’t interact with her friends meaningfully or even say a proper farewell to them.

Although not the youngest in the group, my female owner is probably the youngest in terms of mental age and exposure to the “real world”. It makes her deeply embarrassed to recall how she has once again inconvenienced her friends; to the girls who had to escort her to the toilet many times and to her Clever Fren who inadvertently had to send her home since he was the only one who drove. To the new addition, who fortunately or unfortunately, was drinking with them for the first time and was (I’m sure this is unfortunate) sitting next to her. He thus had to deal with her nonsense and randomness like “can you zip up my bag?”. According to Potahto, his response, after some fumbling, was “there is no zip!”. Now, who is the sober one? There was a zip on the uncomplicated bag.

But at the same time, my female owner is warmed by their friendship, kindness and care. In their own ways, they have all made sacrifices during this period to catch up with her. For reasons like this, it makes leaving even more difficult!

alcoholic

My female owner did something which she hasn’t done for a long time. She went drinking with some friends. Her usual drinking kakis are her Impromptu Frens but tonight, she went with two church friends. Ah, so proud of her. She didn’t get drunk or vomit.

She came home a bit intoxicated but still lucid, in control of her actions and certainly not high. Just warm and light-headed. After all, it was only two mixers and a beer.

Hmmm… a sign of alcoholic maturity.. She chose not to drink more, because she could just feel the alcohol building up within her. Anymore at any faster rate would mean a repeat of her tragic past.

leading

My female owner once again experienced God’s faithfulness and love today.

She made arrangements with the ex-colleague who invited her to join his bible study group (let’s call him JF) to meet him at Tanah Merah MRT at 1930hrs. Now, Tanah Merah is eons away from Ang Mo Kio. My female owner was ambivalent about going whether it would be worthwhile going, so she nuaed at home until it was too late to take public transport and be on time. Her only alternative was to drive down. The main problem was that she had never driven to TM MRT before and she has no street directory.

She smsed JF who replied with the address of the place (a landed property, so she did not even know which estate she would be heading towards – turns out to be Bedok) and directions that read “U go by PIE exit Simei. At the junction where u can see Expo and MRT track, turn right. There after, turn left when u hit the first junction. Turn right after temple on the right. Then call me. =) ”

And people familiar with my female owner knows that firstly, she is a poor driver, secondly, she doesn’t know her roads and thirdly, even with directions and a street directory, she gets lost.

Armed with this sms (and a secret hope that she would be so lost that she wont be able to make it for bible study), she left in her father’s car, driving head-on into peak hour traffic on the expressway. Putting aside her grievances about Singaporean drivers, my female owner survived the stop-start traffic and arrived at what looked like a temple but turned out to be an old folk’s home.

Now, remember that she didn’t know which estate she was supposed to be in. She called JF whose phone was cut off abruptly. Oh well. She decided to find the place herself. In front of her were two options, either left or right. My female owner deliberated for a while and told God that He had to guide her to the right place, if He really wanted her to be at bible study. My female owner decided to turn left and follow the road leading into a maze of private estates. There were many minor roads or streets she could have taken to locate the exact Jalan, but my female owner went along the main vein and followed the road and with some divine help, found the exact street which she was looking for, with a spare parking space.

Amazing! It was definitely God’s leading all the way. Without a street directory, without getting lost, in darkness, my female owner knew that she was not there at no. 56 by chance.

rendezvous

My female owner is traumatised (again). Her second holiday rendezvous at a local club ended in disaster again. The first time in Shanghai, she and her friends (potahto included) met up with a male acquaintance (Singaporean) at a club, did some crazy stuff, overdosed on alcohol and woke up swearing never to drink again. My female owner went back to Singapore, thinking that was the last she would ever hear of that guy again. The next time she knew, she found out that he's the brother of one of her ex-colleagues at her first workplace. Such a small world.

This time at Gold Coast, potahto and her also visited a local club. Mr Host's elder son kindly brough them to a club to party. History repeated itself somewhat, and they partied the night away. While partying, some random locals also took photos with my female owner. A staff member from the club also went around taking photos of their customers (i.e. a photo of three of them was taken too). Happily, they made it home without any fainting episodes and my female owner thought that that was that.

Until today... she found out from potahto that two of the photos were uploaded on the club's website. Looks like there's no running away from that night.
